An MPI or Master Patient Index is at the core of the HIE solution. With the increasing complexity in provision of Healthcare to patients there is a growing need to exchange patient healthcare information on an as needed basis. As a new patient is registered on a participant Provider's system of record, the patient identity gets correlated if this patient's record exists in any other participating Provider's systems of record. The patient identity correlation is done by using identifying attributes and applying highly advanced probabilistic algorithms to identify correlated identities. BISIL's HIE automates this correlation and in addition to identifying correlations it identifies possible matches.

The HIE solution also provides capabilities to tune probabilistic criteria used in the correlation algorithms. The HIE solution feature set includes modules to handle both false positives and false negatives. The solution also automates handling of those exceptions that need service center intervention and need to be resolved manually. Once the identity of the patient is correlated the electronic data at the subscribing provider systems and locations. Enj BPMS supports underlying modular structure and processes.

Once the information is shared and is available at a central location the output can be displayed on a patient portal.
